1. Who these terms are with
This site is operated by Reserchers, an independent research publication edited by David Richards. "We" and "us" mean Reserchers; "you" means anyone reading or otherwise using the site. Reach us at [email protected].
2. What the site is
Reserchers publishes desk research about software that small businesses run on: what each product costs, what it does, and where it stops being a fit. It is journalism and general information. It is not consulting, and it is not legal, tax, accounting, employment, or financial advice. Thedisclaimer covers the limits of what you should rely on the research for, and theeditorial policy sets out the standards it is produced to.
3. Reading the site costs nothing
There is no account, no paywall, and no subscription fee. The site is supported by display advertising and by affiliate commissions on some outbound links, both of which are disclosed in theprivacy policy and theaffiliate disclosure. You are not charged for anything here, and no commission changes the price you pay a vendor.
4. What you may do with the research
Read it, print it, and send it to a colleague. Quote a reasonable extract in your own work, provided you attribute it to Reserchers and link to the page you took it from. Use anything you learn here to run your business.
What we ask you not to do:
- republish a whole article or a substantial part of one, on a website, in a newsletter, or inside another product, without written permission
- present the research as your own work, or strip the byline, dates, or source links that make it checkable
- scrape the site in a way that degrades it for other readers, or ignore
robots.txt - attempt to breach, probe, or interfere with the site's security or availability
- use the site for anything unlawful, or in a way that would put us in breach of a law or of an advertising partner's policies
- interfere with advertising on the site, or generate clicks or impressions that are not from a genuine reader acting on their own interest
Permission for larger reuse is usually given and is free. Ask at[email protected].
5. Ownership
The articles, the calculators and templates, the layout, and the Reserchers name are ours. Product names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used here to identify and discuss those products. Reserchers is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any vendor it writes about, and nothing on this site should be read as a vendor speaking.
6. Accuracy, and the fact that prices move
We check claims against current vendor documentation and date every page, so you can see how fresh a figure is. Even so, software pricing, plan names, feature limits, and terms change without notice, and a page that was correct when it was written can be out of date by the time you read it. Before you buy anything, confirm the detail that matters on the vendor's own site.
The site is provided as-is and as-available. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of anything harmful, and we do not warrant that any product described here will suit your business. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
7. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Reserchers is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of your use of this site or your reliance on anything published here. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to 100 US dollars in total.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
8. Third-party sites and advertising
The site links out to vendor documentation, pricing pages, and other sources, and it carries advertising chosen by Google rather than by us. Following a link or an ad takes you somewhere we do not operate and cannot vouch for. That destination's own terms and privacy policy apply, and any transaction you enter into there is between you and them. A link is not an endorsement, and an ad is not a recommendation. Advertising is separated from editorial: an advertiser cannot buy coverage, placement, or a verdict.
9. Corrections and takedown
If a page contains an error, tell us and it gets fixed. Send the page, the statement you dispute, and a source, to[email protected]. If you believe something here infringes your copyright, email the same address identifying the work, the URL, and your contact details, and we will review and act promptly.
10. Changes to the site and to these terms
We may add, change, or remove pages at any time, and we may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top of this page changes. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the revised terms, so it is worth re-reading them if the date has moved.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located there have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of your local law or of the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing a provision on one occasion is not a waiver of it.
